Animal Mental Health Awareness Week

More so around November due to firework displays and the prolonged use of fireworks after bonfire night itself is why we have chosen this week in November. Our aim long term is to help people understand the impact of their actions when excessive use of entertainment such as fireworks are being over used and to promote better practises to support our animal family and reduce the impacts on those that suffer with their mental health.

How catnip can help with anxiety

Stress relief: The euphoric effect of catnip can help reduce stress and anxiety, especially in situations like thunderstorms, car rides, or new environments.

Mental stimulation: Rolling around in catnip and the resulting playful behavior provides mental stimulation, which is beneficial for overall well-being.

Calming phase: After an initial period of excitement, the cat's brain can become "worn out" from the burst of feel-good hormones, leading to a more sluggish and calm state.

Animal Mental Health Awareness Week 1-7th Nov

Day 11 - Therapy that can not only support your dogs physical health but also really build their mental health being able to swim / tread water is fantastic for dogs and other animals struggling with low mood due to illness or needing rehabilitation after surgery.

Hydrotherapy uses warm water to provide low-impact, weightless exercise for dogs, offering benefits like pain reduction, muscle strengthening, and improved mobility for various conditions including arthritis, post-surgical recovery, and neurological disorders. The water's buoyancy supports the dog's body, reducing joint stress while the resistance of the water builds muscle and improves endurance.

We have recommended hydrotherapy many times to clients over the years as we saw first hand how much it helped our fur baby after a cruciate ligament operation she was really struggling seeing her wagging tail after her sessions made us so proud of her and so relieved that she had pain free support for her joints she went on to live a very happy life till the age of 14.

We are convinced that early intervention and holistic support really helps our animals mental health.
